Shawn Frost to play in D3 Senior Classic

December 12, 2013

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University football standout Shawn Frost (Mt. Gilead/Edison) has been selected to play in the D3 Senior Classic on Friday, Dec. 13, in Salem, VA. The senior standout who was named First Team All-HCAC and is a two-time Academic All-HCAC honoree will put his talents on display for a national audience Friday night at 7 p.m. This recognition comes on the heels of his one-handed touchdown grab against Earlham being named the Heartland Conference Play of the Year.

The D3 Senior Classic has been the premier all-star experience for Division III football players since its inception in 2009. It brings together some of Division III's best to Salem, VA each December to compete in a North vs. South format all-star game. Each year, the D3 Senior Classic provides its participants and their families with an unmatched experience including a banquet to pay tribute to their stellar football careers.

After the first CDFL (Collegiate Development Football League) season in 2009, the college coaches were showing their support with increasing interest in the league's ability to recruit quality talent and fulfill some needs within the country's football scouting landscape in general. This was especially evident in helping the underprivileged young men that the CDFL was designed to service. It was then that the CDFL decided to broaden the scope of its services by looking to provide more opportunity for small college players to gain exposure to the pro scouts. The first thing that the founders noticed was that there was not a dedicated post-season all-star game for the DIII players. This level was in desperate need of a game where the nation's best players and top DIII NFL prospects could come together for an exclusive chance to play each other in a North vs. South All-Star format.

Going into its 5th year, this game has been highly successful and is undoubtedly the premier post-season scouting opportunity for all of D-lll Football. It has attracted the best football players D-lll has to offer for the past four years, boasting roster's that are consistently comprised of 82 percent All-Americans.

The D-lll Senior Classic is played in Salem Stadium in Salem, VA on the 2nd or 3rd Friday of December, always the week before the D-lll National Championship (Alonzo Stagg Bowl).
