Moorer Named to D3Football Team of the Week

October 23, 2014

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University freshman Ollie Moorer (Warrensville Heights) has been named to the D3Football.com Team of the Week following his record-setting fourth quarter at Earlham on Saturday, Oct. 18. It marks the second time in two weeks that a Beaver has secured the award!

Senior Brad Swavel (Marion/Ridgedale) was the first Bluffton football player to be recognized on the D3Football Team of the Week after he finished with nine tackles to go along with an interception, a forced fumble, a breakup and a fumble recovery in Bluffton's 31-17 victory at Rose-Hulman on Saturday, Oct. 11.

Moorer had four solo tackles, all sacks, as the Beavers defeated Earlham 24-22 after trailing 20-7 at the break. Two of his sacks came on back-to-back plays to open the fourth quarter, leading to an Earlham punt. He also forced a fumble on Earlham's final snap of the game, preventing any last-second comeback. All four sacks came in the fourth quarter and it is the first recorded four-sack performance for a Bluffton football player.

The freshman pass rushing specialist is currently second in the Heartland Conference with 4.5 sacks, behind teammate Ryan Aelker (Holgate/New Bavaria) and his league-best 7.5 sacks.

Bluffton will return to Salzman Stadium for just its third home game of the year when the Beavers look for their fourth straight victory on Saturday, Oct. 25. Kickoff with Manchester University is slated for 1:30 p.m. Saturday's contest will benefit Samaritan's Feet when the Beavers battle the Spartans.
