Good and Phelps claim Second Team All-HCAC honors

November 11, 2010

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the recipients of All-HCAC honors for the 2010 season. Seniors NOLAN PHELPS (Monroe/Lemon-Monroe) and BRIAN GOOD (Elida) were tabbed as second team selections for their work on the pitch this season.

Nolan Phelps collected his third piece of All-HCAC hardware after anchoring the Bluffton defense in 2010. The four-year starter was a first team selection last year after taking home second team honors as a sophomore. Phelps provided leadership and toughness to a Bluffton squad that consisted of eight seniors this season. He buried his only penalty kick this year while finishing his career with seven goals and seven assists for 21 points on just 55 total shots. The standout defender played in 62 contests, starting all but two of them.

Senior Brian Good, who had started in goal for his first three seasons, expanded on a diverse skill set by moving up front to begin the season. He knocked in one goal, the game-winner against Grace Bible College in the 2010 opener, on 18 shots before going back between the posts. Although he started just nine games in goal, Good tallied 71 saves and finished the season with a 2.98 goals against average. Good moved into sixth place all-time with 303 career saves and five shutouts. It marked his second straight All-HCAC honor as he was also selected to the second team a season ago.

The Bluffton University men's soccer team finished their 2010 campaign with a record of 4-13 overall and 2-7 in the Heartland Conference. Full statistics and information on the 2010 men's soccer season are available online
