Manchester takes down Beavers 3-0

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Manchester University on a cool and windy Wednesday, March 31, 2021. The unorthodox regular season comes to a close with Bluffton sporting a 1-6-2 mark overall and in the conference. Manchester improved to 5-3 heading into its rivalry matchup with Anderson on Good Friday.

Manchester needed less than six minutes to crack the scoreboard when Josh Gonzalez found Harley Krushwitz for a quick 1-0 lead. Krushwitz connected with Cory Mitchell in minute 24 and a tapback by the Beavers late in the first half set up Jacob Knepper for his second goal of the season and a commanding 3-0 spread at the break.

Grant Ingham (Lebanon) and Elijah Grieser (Wauseon/Pettisville) paced the Bluffton offense with two shots apiece. Fellow sophomore Tanner Newport (Hamilton, Va./Loudoun Valley) racked up five saves on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Brendan Nicholl (Manitou Beach, Mich./Addison) earned his first collegiate start after wowing all the fans in the stands with his version of the Star Spangled Banner on the electric guitar!

The Bluffton men will play for a final time this season next week, likely against Anderson University. Once the date, time and location have been set, the Beaver Men's Soccer schedule page will reflect that final competition.
