Velasco-Urbina named HCAC Player of the Week

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Angel Velasco-Urbina (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) has been named the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts between the pipes last week.

Velasco-Urbina allowed just one goal in nearly 200 minutes as the Beavers were a perfect 2-0 in Heartland Conference play. The standout freshman notched his second shutout of the season against the Pioneers and the only goal scored against Bluffton came with 25 seconds left off a wild corner kick by Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday afternoon. He finished with a whopping 15 saves for the week.

When junior defender Maxwell Kennedy (Strongsville) delivered with just over six minutes on the clock in the second extra session, Bluffton snapped a string of 12 straight losses to a Transylvania team that was 19-1 against the Beavers all-time coming into Saturday's contest!

Bluffton will go back to work on Wednesday, Oct. 13, when the Beavers travel to Richmond, Ind., for a 3:30 p.m. meeting with Earlham College where Coach Richardson had his collegiate coaching debut.
