Jackets score late goals for 3-1 victory

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Bluffton University men's soccer team wrapped up non-conference play on Sunday, Sept. 25, with a 3-1 loss to Baldwin Wallace. The Beavers dropped to 2-3-3 while Baldwin Wallace improved to 9-0-1.

The Yellow Jackets stung early for a 1-0 lead that would hold through the half. Bluffton nailed the equalizer in minute 62 when Elijah Zimmerman (Archbold) attacked the back of the net, assisted by Leonardo Campos (Santiago, Chile/Campbellsville University), to tie it up 1-1. Baldwin Wallace would net two more tallies in the final 17 minutes to secure their seventh straight victory.

Bluffton sophomore Angel Velasco-Urbina (Lexington, KY/Henry Clay) tallied seven saves in the loss. Zimmerman and Dalton Taynor (Troy/Miami East) powered the offense with five shots apiece.

The visitors outshot the Beavers, 17-16 (10-7 on goal). Baldwin Wallace forced five more corners (8-3) and were whistled for nine fouls compared to Bluffton's 16.

The Beavers are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 28, when they travel to Transylvania University to open conference play. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. in Lexington, Ky. Go Beavers!
