BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Bluffton University men's soccer team lost a hard-fought 2-1 battle against Rose-Hulman on Sunday, Oct. 16, capping off Senior Day and Homecoming weekend. The Beavers fell to 5-6-3 overall (3-3 HCAC) while the Engineers improved to 10-1-2 (6-0 HCAC).

Bluffton's Jackson Clark (Mount Blanchard/Riverdale) netted a shot, assisted by Elijah Zimmerman (Archbold), just over seven minutes into the match, giving the home team an early 1-0 lead that would hold through the half. It marked the first time in 2022 that Rose had trailed in a Heartland Conference match as the Engineers came into Sunday with a 5-0 mark and 20-0 edge in goals scored!

The Beavers ran out of gas in the second half as the Engineers scored in minutes 51 and 74 to their 2-1 victory over Bluffton.

Powering the Beaver offense was Clark with the only two Beaver shots and one goal. Angel Velasco-Urbina (Lexington, KY/Henry Clay) tallied six saves in the match, compared to none for the Engineers.

RHIT outshot the Beavers 17-2 (8-1 on goal). The visitors also forced two more corner kicks (3-1), but they were whistled for four more fouls (7-3).

The men are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 19, when they travel to HCAC-rival Defiance College for a mid-afternoon matchup. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. Go Beavers!
