Hanover pitches 1-0 shutout of Beavers

HANOVER, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Hanover College on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022. Hanover improved to 9-4-3 and 7-0-1 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton fell to 6-7-3 and 4-4 in the HCAC.

It took over 60 minutes, but Hanover's Fernando Martin found the back of the net for the only goal of the match midway through the second half. The Panthers took just two shots in the opening period before piling up an 11-1 advantage over the final 45 minutes.

Bluffton's only shot came from Dru Arrasmith (Xenia/Greeneview) as Hanover finished with a 13-1 edge on Saturday afternoon. The two squads split six corner kicks and the home team was whistled for three more fouls (11-8).

Sophomore Angel Velasco-Urbina (Louisville, Ky./Henry Clay) kept Bluffton alive with seven saves against the Panthers.

Bluffton will cap off its regular season when Manchester University comes to town on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 3:30 p.m. with an HCAC tournament-hosting opportunity on the line.
