ASHLAND, Ohio - On Friday and Saturday, April 23-24, the Beavers traveled to Ashland to compete in their last regular season meet before the conference championships.

For the throwers, newcomer Markus Finley (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North), who recently earned Second Team All-Heartland Conference honors for Bluffton Football, threw an outstanding first mark in the men's shot put competition (12.85 meters). His throw places him 5th in the conference.

"The distance athletes had seven season bests and four lifetime bests last weekend as they get ready to head into HCAC action this coming week!" said Distance Coach Brendon Moody.

In the women's 1500-meter race, freshman Jenia Freewalt (Delphos/St. John's) raced a new PR of 5:35.60.

Later in the meet, during the women's 800-meter race, sophomore Justine Lesniewski (Mantua/Crestwood) raced a new PR of 2:37.65, freshman Brooke Barnes (Ashland/Crestview) set a new PR of 2:46.31 and freshman Tabi Rollman (Toledo/Whitmer) set a new PR of 2:58.11.

After giving it their all in Ashland, the Beavers are continuing to train and rest up for their peak at the HCAC Conference Championship at Rose-Hulman this weekend. The two-day event is slated to kick off at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 30.
