Gist moving up national list for 110 meter hurdles

HILLSDALE, Mich. - Freshman Desmond Gist (Detroit, Mich./Trenton) moved up the national list for 110 meter hurdles with an outstanding effort at Hillsdale College on Thursday, May 13. He also competed in the long jump (22-0.75 feet) at the Hillsdale 'Last Chance' Classic.

Assistant Coach Darrell Briggs had this to say about Gist's performance, "Desmond came to compete and broke a crucial barrier for a 110-meter hurdler. That barrier is a sub 15-second time, which he did running a 14.95. As a coach it was exciting to see the small pieces that he put together in his race and the small parts we can fix for next week. He made a big move up the national rankings and hopes to fix more small parts and take one last step next week to make it into the national meet."

Following his fantastic race at Hillsdale, Gist is currently ranked 34th nationally with the 8th-best time for NCAA Division III freshmen!

Gist will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championships when he laces them up again next Thursday, May 20, in Naperville, Ill., for the North Central College Gregory Final Qualifier.
