ADA, Ohio - Desmond Gist (Detroit, Mich./Trenton) had one final chance to tune up for a possible NCAA Nationals berth when he competed at the Ohio Northern Polar Bear Final Qualifier on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

"Desmond ran two solid races, not the time that we wanted (8.28 and 8.31), but I wouldn't consider it a bad day," said Head Coach Ben Markison. "He didn't improve his standing nationally which made it come down to the wire to see how the other last chance meets went at Wartburg and Tufts. When those results were in the books, he officially got in as the 18th spot on Sunday!"

Next up are the NCAA Nationals at Birmingham CrossPlex where Gist is scheduled to run prelims on Friday, March 10, at 1:30 p.m. Central Time with the finals slated for Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
