Pioneers collect 81-66 win over Beavers

January 12, 2002

Bluffton College saw a good second half effort come up a bit short on Saturday afternoon as the Beavers fell to Transylvania University 81-66 in Founders Hall.

Bluffton tailed 43-24 at halftime and saw Transy go up by as many as 28 points early in the second half, but the BC defense held the Pioneers to just two field goals in the final 10 minutes of the game as the Beavers chipped away at the lead.

Bluffton got Transy's lead down to just eight points with less than four minutes remaining in the game, but Transy pulled away down the stretch to claim their 15-point win.

Four BC players scored in double figures as junior Lyndsey Robinson and sophomore Karen Harris shared team scoring honors with 14 points each. That point total is a new career high for Harris, while Robinson added a career high 13 rebounds for the second double-double of her career.

Junior Michelle Ray added 12 points and Lindsay Bacon chipped in 10.

Bluffton (0-15, 0-6) will host Defiance College on Wednesday night at 7:00.

Transylvania (7-6, 4-2) was led by Tari Young with 15 points.
