Waggener wins MSJ Stateline Shootout

HARRISON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's golf team capped off an outstanding weekend of golf with a 2nd place finish at the Stateline Shootout hosted by tournament champion Mount St. Joseph.

The cherry on top was an individual champion for the Beavers! Junior Allie Waggener (Hilliard/Hilliard Bradley) opened day two with 11 straight pars en route to a 75 on Sunday, Sept. 3. She finished with a 155, breaking her own school record for 36 holes by four strokes and her two-over 75 is also a school record with relation to par! Waggener cruised to a three-stroke win in the 2023-24 season-opening tournament!

Kiley Cline (Fostoria/Hopewell Louden) placed 5th overall with a 166 following rounds of 82 and 84. Her +20 for the tournament is tied for 3rd all-time at Bluffton. Freshman Jordan Hemmelgarn (Coldwater) shaved five strokes off her Saturday score with an 83, placing 8th with a 171.

Sophomore Sara Kroeger (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) and Shelby Stammen (Fort Recovery) capped off the 36 holes with identical scores of 190.

The 681 at Miami Whitewater Golf Club was just five strokes away from the 36-hole school record, while Bluffton's 335 on Sunday is 3rd all-time for 18 holes.

The Beavers will travel to another Hidden Creek Country Club in Sellersburg, Ind. for the the Hanover Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9.
