Bluffton stands 5th after Day 1 at HCAC

SELLERSBURG, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's golf team stands 5th after day one of the HCAC Championship. The Beavers shot a 337 on Friday and they are just 12 strokes behind the number two team, perennial-power Transylvania University.

Leading a Bluffton squad that saw the four scorers separated by just six strokes was junior Kiley Cline (Fostoria/Hopewell Louden) who put together a 10-over 82 on day one. Just one stroke back was freshman Hope Manning (South Charlestown/Southeastern) who chipped in with an 83.

Jordan Hemmelgarn (Coldwater) carded an 84, while Allie Waggener (Hilliard/Bradley) finished with an 88 for the Beavers. Freshman Gabby Green (Beavercreek/Carroll) rounded out the Bluffton five with a 96 in round one.

The Beavers will return to Hidden Creek Golf Club in Sellersburg, Ind., at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, for round two of the Heartland Conference Championship.
