The Bluffton College women's soccer team finished the 2000 season last Tuesday with a loss to Hanover College in the Heartland Conference tournament. The women's soccer team finished with a 3-14 overall record and 1-5 record in Heartland Conference play.

This year's team was very young, sporting only three upperclassmen, but BC was able to defeat Defiance College, who finished 4th in the HCAC, in an early non-conference game. The Beavers also defeated Franklin College 5-1 in a mid-season league game for their conference victory this year.

Junior Katie Kantner led the Beavers this season with 17 points on five goals and seven assists, which ranked 5th in the HCAC. Bluffton's scoring attack was also led by second leading scorer April Leu and third leading scorers Sarah Sheperd and Whitney Wood. Goalkeeper Alayne Troyer recorded 136 saves on the year good enough for 4th place in the HCAC.

Next years women's soccer team will look to build on the experience gained during the 2000 season. The Beavers will return everyone from the 2000 roster including 11 upper classmen.
