CARRIE ANDRYC, a 2007 graduate of Oak Harbor High School (Ohio) and four-year varsity soccer letterman, will join the Bluffton University women's soccer team in the fall. Carrie was a team captain for Oak Harbor and helped lead them to two sectional championships and twice finished district runner-up. In addition to soccer, Carrie was a four-year letterman on the diving team and sectional and Sandusky Bay Conference (SBC) champion in 2007, along with lettering for two years as a centerfielder on the softball team. Carrie achieved in the classroom as well as in competition, making the Merit and Honor Roll all four years in high school, including winning a Scholar Athlete Award for four years. Outside of academic life, she participated in 4-H for four years, serving one year each as Vice President and President. Carrie was a member of FCCLA for two years and volunteered at Riverview Industries for three summer camps in addition to being involved at St. Boniface Catholic Church.
SARAH AUSLAND, a 2007 Celina (Ohio) graduate, set a goal of becoming a starter on the field for her high school team which she achieved. Sarah started every game but three in a midfield or attacking position while collecting three goals in her senior year. Following two years on junior varsity, Sarah started every game as a goalkeeper for Celina her junior year. An Honor Roll student, Sarah also participated in activities outside of soccer, including acquiring her softball umpiring license.
MALLORI BONTRAGER, from Iowa Mennonite High School in Kalona, Iowa, participated on her high school's varsity soccer team and cites beating a rival school for the first time as one of her most memorable athletic moments. Academically, Mallori is on Iowa Mennonite's High Honor Roll and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was also a participant in the Youth Salute Leadership Award through Hills Bank and was awarded a scholarship toward her senior year from a memorial fund. Mallori continues to be involved at Wellman Mennonite Church in Wellman, Iowa.
MEGAN BOOSE, a 2007 Riverdale (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) graduate, played two years at the varsity level and enjoyed team success by helping the Lady Falcons to a first place finish in the Bowling Green Soccer Tournament in 2005 and 2006 and a second place finish in Div. II OHSAA district tournament play (also in 2006). Megan has been on the Merit Honor Roll all four years in high school and was a member of the National Honor Society for two years. Outside of athletics, Megan is an active member of the Wharton First Church of God in Wharton, Ohio, and has volunteered throughout the community, participating with Habitat for Humanity and helping with canned food drives among others.
MARY CONRAD, a 2007 West Holmes (Millersburg, Ohio) graduate, has participated in numerous sports in her high school career and plans to pursue soccer at Bluffton University. Her soccer accomplishments include all-league (Ohio Cardinal Conference) status each year she played, culminating with second team all-league her senior year. She was also named to the second team All-Daily Record (Wooster). In sports away from soccer, Mary earned honors in track as the Coshocton Tribune Girls Distance Runner of the Year (2006) and Div. I Eastern District All-Star track team for 800 meters; Eastern District second team (2005) and all-league (OCC) second team (2005) in softball; all-league (OCC) second team in 2003 and 2004 in cross country before choosing to discontinue her competition in softball and cross country following her sophomore year. Academically, Mary has received her highest honors by carrying a 4.0 all through high school, earning her permanent Honor Roll status and placing her in position to finish as West Holmes' Valedictorian (although she notes there's one more quarter to go!). Ms. Conrad received Bluffton University's highest honor as she was awarded the Presidential Scholarship this spring. In addition to involvement with the National Honor Society, Student Council and Knights of the Round Table, Mary maintains active church involvement in the Millersburg Mennonite youth group.
BETHANI CORBETT, 2007 Shawnee (Lima, Ohio) graduate, will compete for time in the goal at Bluffton University with two returning goalkeepers from last year's squad. She bypassed the freshman and sophomore teams and competed on the junior varsity team as a freshman in California in her first high school season. Bethani transferred to Shawnee as a sophomore and played junior varsity before finishing her high school career as a varsity member her junior and senior years. Bluffton University head coach Steve Smucker comments, "I'm looking forward to working with Bethani. Her energy and enthusiasm will be a welcome addition to the team this fall." Bethani brings a wealth of competitive experience, playing for one of the premier girls programs in Northwest Ohio. She also competed on Shawnee's varsity track team as a thrower in discus and shot-put during her sophomore and junior years. Academically, Bethani has been awarded Second Honor Roll during her sophomore, junior and senior school years. In addition to athletics, she maintained interest in music and theatre, performing in numerous community productions as an actor and singer while also being a member of Shawnee's A Capello Choir for three years. During those three years, Bethani was part of a choir that consistently achieved 1's at state competition and won a first place finish. She also contributed as a soloist, receiving 1's and competing at the state competition level. Finally, Bethani remains involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), 4-H (for two years) and she volunteers with Relay for Life.
NICOLE FREY, from Wauseon High School in Wauseon, Ohio, plans to pursue dietetics with a concentration in meat science while participating on the women's soccer team in 2007. Her athletic achievements include three years as district honorable mention, three years as team MVP and four years as a varsity member of Wauseon's girls soccer team. Nicole was also honored to act as team captain her senior year and led the team in scoring for three years. She made the all-district team her senior year and sharpened her skills in the off-season by participating with the Maumee Express soccer club. Her academic accomplishments include four years as an Honor Roll student, reporter for FFA and participation on a meat judging team that was a district and state qualifier. Nicole remains active in the community as a 12-year member of Clinton Doodle Bugs 4-H group where she served as president for four years. She is also a member of Crossroads Senior High youth group and served as a church ambassador for the Black Swamp Benefit committee.
