ANDERSON, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team picked up a victory when they defeated HCAC-rival Anderson 1-0 in an intense double-overtime thriller. The Beavers improved to 3-5-1 on the year and 1-1 in the HCAC, while the Ravens dropped to 5-8 overall and 1-2 in the conference. It marked Bluffton's second consecutive win over the Ravens and only third ever in 15 matches

After 107 minutes of heated play, freshman ALEX JESS (Piqua/Piqua) broke the scoreless stalemate when she collected a nice feed from ALLISON WHITE (Lima/Shawnee) and took advantage of an open net to give Bluffton the win, 1-0, over Anderson.

Jess had three of the team's eight shots in the contest. KATY WISBY (Lancaster/Bloom-Carroll) picked up two saves for the Beavers.

Anderson took 18 shots in the match and snatched five saves, while Bluffton had just three saves. The Beavers were whistled for 10 fouls, compared to only six for the Ravens. Bluffton forced four corner kicks, three less than the Ravens had.

Bluffton returns to action when the Beavers host Pikeville College on Monday, October 6. Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m.
