Beavers improve to 6-9-1 with 2-1 win at Taylor-Ft. Wayne

FT WAYNE, Ind. - Bluffton saw its 1-0 lead disappear with five minutes to play, but the Beavers responded three minutes later to record the 2-1 win at Taylor-Ft. Wayne. The visitors improved to 6-9-1 on the season while Taylor dropped to 1-12-1 following the loss. The Beavers' six wins are the most since 1999 when Bluffton finished 8-9.

With just under 10 minutes to play in the first half, senior ALLISON WHITE (Lima/Shawnee) put the Beavers on top with her sixth goal of the season. The score remained 1-0 until late in half number two.

In minute 85 NATHALIE VIX knotted the contest when her shot found the back of the net. Senior AMY DAHL (Perrysville/Loudonville) knocked in the game winner with 1:57 to play in the final stanza, giving the Beavers a 2-1 victory over Taylor-Ft. Wayne.

NICOLE FREY (Wauseon) and White paced the Bluffton offense with seven and six shots, respectively. Both of them placed four shots on frame. MEGAN FORQUER (North Canton/Green) chipped in with four shots and ALEX JESS (Piqua) added three. Dahl's game-winner was her first goal of the season for the Beavers.

CARRIE ANDRYC (Graytown/Oak Harbor) notched four saves in her first start at keeper and freshman KATY WISBY (Lancaster/Bloom-Carroll) also picked up four second half stops in the win.

Bluffton rifled 25 shots, compared to 13 for the home team. The Beavers forced six corner kicks, three more than Taylor. Bluffton was whistled for six infractions and Taylor was called for just three fouls and one yellow card.

The Beavers will host Transylvania University in Bluffton's final contest of the 2008 season. The match is slated to start at 12 p.m.
