BLUFFTON, Ohio - The NCAA Division III recently announced the recipients of All-Ohio honors for the 2008 season. Two Bluffton University soccer players were honored for their performance on the field this season. Seniors ALLISON WHITE (Lima/Shawnee) and NATE FLATH(Wadsworth) were named to the second and third teams, respectively, for All-Ohio by the voting members of the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association. Flath was the only men's player from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference selected All-Ohio, while White joined three women from Mt. St. Joseph and one from Defiance on the Division III All-Ohio teams.
Allison White collected second team All-Ohio honors while ending her magnificent career at Bluffton with 31 points, including 16 points in her senior year alone. For her career, White played in 65 matches and she started 62 of those. The standout forward scored 13 career goals, which tied her for fifth all-time at Bluffton, and she also dished out five assists for 31 total points.
White, who was a second team All-HCAC selection in 2005 and 2006 and first teamer in 2008, led the Beavers with team highs of six goals and four assists for 16 total points. She fired 42 shots, including the game-winner and a hat trick in Bluffton's 3-0 victory over Franklin College.
Nate Flath, who was first team All-HCAC as a sophomore in 2006 and again as a senior in 2008, capped off his brilliant career at Bluffton as the top scorer in the Heartland Conference during his senior campaign with 34 total points. He paced the HCAC in both goals (12) and assists (10) while pushing the Beavers to their best record since 1993. The senior took a conference-high 67 shots and knocked in three game-winners. Flath was a perfect 2-of-2 on penalty kicks this season.
For his career, Flath's 33 goals place him fourth all-time at Bluffton while his 18 assists are just one shy of all-time Bluffton leader Tony Brown's 19 assists. The senior forward started 61 of the 62 contests he played in as a Beaver. Flath was 8-of-9 on penalty kicks during his career and he buried six game-winning shots for Bluffton. His 10 assists in 2008 established a new single-season mark for the Beavers.
