BLUFFTON, Ohio - Sophomore KOURTNEY LEWIS (Arlington/Riverdale) was recently named first team in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for women's soccer. Sophomore LYNDSAY NELSON (St. Marys) and freshman MADDIE MOORE (Linn Grove, Ind./South Adams) both earned second team All-HCAC honors following the 2009 season.

Lewis led the Beavers with 21 points, including eight goals and five assists. She fired 64 shots, including the game-winner as the Beavers defeated the Manchester Spartans, 1-0, as well as two of the seven goals scored in the 7-4 victory over Trine University. For her career, Lewis has played in 21 matches while starting 19 of them despite battling injuries both years. The explosive forward has fired 85 shots in her career while scorching the back of the net 13 times, tying her for sixth on the career goals list at Bluffton. Lewis dished out five assists in 2009, placing her third for single season assists as well as fourth in career assists with six.

Picking up her second All-Heartland Conference award was sophomore Lyndsay Nelson. The defender has played in and started 16 matches this season. Nelson moved from midfielder to defender this season due to injuries to key personnel and was an integral part of the backbone of the team by helping Bluffton limit opponents to an all-time low 30 goals this season.

Freshman Maddie Moore picked up her first HCAC award while dishing out four assists and scoring one goal for a total of six points in the 2009 campaign. Moore played in all 17 games and started all but one, while providing a constant offensive threat as she produced 45 shots this year.

Bluffton finished the season with an 8-9 overall record, including a 2-6 mark in the HCAC, which gave them seventh place in the conference. The 2009 squad tied the 1999 team for the most victories ever by a Bluffton University women's soccer team with eight wins.
