Lyndsay Nelson and Megan Denoi earn Academic All-HCAC honors

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the fall honorees of the HCAC All-Academic awards for the 2009-10 school year. 11 Bluffton University athletes were recognized for their efforts in the classroom. Volleyball and cross country led the way for the Beavers with four honorees each.

Representing the volleyball team were senior BRITTANY ROTH (Findlay), junior KAYLA PICKERING (Jamestown/Greenview) and a pair of sophomores, JENNA ESHLEMAN(Landisville, Pa../Hempfield) and COURTNEY ZIMMERMAN (Leesburg/Fairfield). Senior SARAH BINKLEY (Bluffton/Cory Rawson) and sophomore HEATHER SMITH (Elkhart, Ind./Concord), both from women's cross country were honored, as well as senior BEN SIEBERT(Celina) and sophomore ANDY CHAFFEE (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) from the men's team.

Sophomores LYNDSAY NELSON (St. Marys) and MEGAN DENOI (Bryan) from the women's soccer team and junior quarterback BEN ILNICKI (Indianapolis, Ind./Brebeuf Preparatory) from the football team were also recognized as HCAC All-Academic. Roth, Pickering, Binkley, Siebert and Ilnicki were all recognized for the second consecutive year.
 
To be named All-Academic HCAC, a student-athlete must have completed a full year at the institution, be a varsity athlete and carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 through the semester preceding the end of the season.
