Beavers pitch 1-0 shutout of Goshen at Menno Soccer Classic

LANSDALE, Penn. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team defeated Goshen 1-0 on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The win moved Bluffton's record to 2-2, while Goshen fell to 1-2.

The first half of the game remained scoreless as both teams were unable to put the ball in the back of the net. Bluffton put up just three shots, while Goshen had nine in the opening 45 minutes. Freshman goalie MAGGIE ARMSTRONG (Vevay, Ind./Switzerland County) had five saves in the first half.
 
The only goal of the contest was scored by freshman JESSICA RAMIREZ (Archbold) 25 minutes into the second stanza. The unassisted tally was her first goal of the season.
 
Armstrong came up with six more saves for a total of 11 while adding a win to her record. The Beavers shot the ball seven more times, bringing their total to 10 for the day.
 
The Bluffton women continue their season at Muskingum on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. The contest is slated to kick off at 5 p.m.
