Bluffton scores two late goals for 3-1 win at Muskingum

MUSKINGUM, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team connected for two goals in the final 20 minutes for a 3-1 victory at Muskingum University on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. The Beavers won their second straight contest in improving to 3-2, while Muskingum dipped to 1-5 on the season.

Less than three minutes before halftime, freshman MEGAN MOREO (Spencerville/Delphos Jefferson) buried a penalty kick for a 1-0 lead at the break. Bluffton held a 10-7 lead in shots for the first period before expanding that margin with a commanding 16-5 advantage in the final 45 minutes.

Five minutes after the Fighting Muskies knotted the game at one, Moreo took advantage of a free kick just outside the box when she rattled in her second score of the match. Sophomore MADDIE MOORE (Linn Grove, Ind./South Adams) iced the contest with her goal in the 83rd minute.

CATIE WHITE (Lima/Central Catholic) and Maddie Moore both paced the visitors with six shots apiece, while KOURTNEY LEWIS (Arlington/Riverdale) chipped in with four attempts. Moreo and MONIQUE DEVOL (Lancaster/Bloom Carroll) added three shots each for the Beavers.

SARAH DAILEY (Zanesville) and MAGGIE ARMSTRONG (Vevay, Ind./Switzerland County) combined to limit the Muskies to one goal with two saves apiece. The victors put together a 26-12 edge in shots while forcing six corner kicks, one more than the home team.

Bluffton returns home for a non-conference match with Huntington University on Saturday, Sept. 18. The contest is slated for 12 p.m. at the Sears Complex.
