Bluffton drops 2-1 decision to Huntington in OT

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team fell to Huntington University 2-1 in overtime on Saturday, September 18, 2010. The loss dropped Bluffton's record to 3-3, while Huntington improved to 4-3.

The Beavers put up a valiant effort against the Foresters, sending the game into overtime after trailing most of the first half. Huntington led 1-0 at the break, but the Beavers came back in the second to tie the match. Freshman KARLI GRAYBILL (Goshen Ind./ Bethany Chr.) tied the game for the Beavers off of a corner kick from fellow freshman MEGAN MOREO(Spencerville/Delphos Jefferson) in the 57th minute.
 
Following 33 minutes of scoreless soccer to end period two, the squads took a 1-1 tie into the extra session. BRITTANY HARTMAN got past the Bluffton defense and ended the match when she slipped it into the net just 3:32 into overtime.
 
Bluffton University finished with 11 shots and forced nine corner kicks while holding Huntington to only three corners. Freshman goalie MAGGIE ARMSTRONG (Vevay, IN/Switzerland County) racked up 10 more saves, bringing her total to 37 for the season.
 
The Bluffton women continue their 2010 campaign in Michigan, against Olivet College on Tuesday, September 21. The contest is slated to start at 4:30 p.m.
