Lions escape with 1-0 win over Bluffton

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team fell 1-0 at the College of Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, September 25, 2010. The loss dropped Bluffton's record to 3-5 and 0-1 in the Heartland Conference, while Mount St. Joseph improved to 2-5-2 overall and 1-0 in the HCAC.

The Beavers put up a valiant effort against the Lions, giving up just one goal in the first half. Less than 10 minutes into the match, ALYSSA SEILER knocked one into the back of the net for the Lions.
 
Bluffton University finished with seven shots (MSJ tallied 14) and forced four corner kicks while holding Mount St. Joseph to only two corners. The Beavers put four of their seven shots on target compared to just 3-of-14 for the home team.
 
Sophomore MADDIE MOORE (Linn Grove, Ind./South Adams) put both of her shot attempts on frame, while junior CATIE WHITE (Lima/Central Catholic) also tallied a pair of shots. Freshman goalkeeper MAGGIE ARMSTRONG (Vevay, Ind./Switzerland County) finished with two saves.
 
The Bluffton women continue their season at home against Oberlin College on Tuesday, September 28. The contest is slated to start at 4:30 p.m.
