Beavers dominate Franklin in 4-0 shutout

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team started off strong with a goal during the 11th minute and the Beavers never looked back as they smoked the Franklin College women on Saturday, October 16, 2010. With the win, Bluffton improved to 5-8-1 overall and 2-3 in the conference while the Grizzlies fell to 0-4-1 in the HCAC and 3-8-1 overall.

During the 11th minute, junior CAITLIN WHITE (Lima/Central Catholic) found freshman KARLI GRAYBILL (Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) for the first goal of the match. The Bluffton offense continued to pound the goal, and with less than 15 minutes left in the first half the Grizzlies increased their deficit with an own goal, making it 2-0 in favor of Bluffton.
 
After the break, the Beaver offense looked stronger than ever as sophomore MADDIE MOORE(Linn Grove, Ind./South Adams) scorched the back of the net thanks to an assist from Graybill. With four minutes remaining on the clock, freshman JESSICA RAMIREZ (Archbold) connected with Moore for a header that resulted in a 4-0 conference shutout against the Grizzlies.
 
Moore and freshman MEGAN MOREO (Spencerville/Delphos Jefferson) both tallied six shots in the match, while Graybill, MEGAN DENOI (Bryan), and KOURTNEY LEWIS(Arlington/Riverdale) generated three shots apiece for Bluffton.
 
Bluffton University put up 23 more shots than their opponents (26-3) while forcing three more corner kicks (4-1). Franklin keepers had 14 saves on the day, compared to just one for Bluffton keeper SARAH DAILEY (Zanesville). The home team was whistled for six infractions, four more than the Grizzlies.
 
The Bluffton women will host Manchester College in another HCAC battle on Wednesday, October 20. The contest between the Beavers and Spartans is slated to start at 4 p.m.
