LIMA, Ohio - After torrential rainfall Friday evening and Saturday, the Bluffton University women's soccer team was forced to move their match with the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers to Sunday, Oct. 6. A change of venue was also in store due to the poor field conditions in Bluffton. Special thanks go out to Lima Senior High School as the Beavers made a short trip down Interstate 75 where they could take advantage of the field turf at Lima Stadium.

The Engineers were able to fight their way to a 1-0 win. The lone goal came just 2:23 into the second half when HAYLEY GILLIAM knocked in her third tally of the season thanks to an assist from HALEY O'NEIL. The Beavers fell in spite of a stout performance from senior standout AIMEE WHITMER (Grand Rapids/Otsego) who fired six shots in the loss.

Senior keeper MAGGIE ARMSTRONG (Vevay, Ind./Switzerland) collected four saves in a losing effort for the home team, while LUCINDA COMBSpitched a shutout for the Engineers, also accumulating four saves. The Beavers outshot the Engineers, 9-7. Rose-Hulman improved to 5-2-4 on the season and 1-0 in HCAC play, while Bluffton slipped to 2-5 and 0-1 in conference play with the loss.

The Beavers will continue conference play on Tuesday, Oct. 8, when they travel to Cincinnati to take on the Mount St Joseph Lions at 7 p.m. After another road trip to Earlham next Saturday, Oct. 12, Bluffton will return to the friendly confines of the Sears Complex for a matchup with the Anderson University Ravens on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 4 p.m. Come support your Beavers!
