BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team honored six players on a cold and rainy Senior Day prior to their conference matchup with Hanover College. MAGGIE ARMSTRONG(Vevay, Ind./Switzerland), ELIZABETH WEBB (Ashland), AIMEE WHITMER (Grand Rapids/Otsego), KATIE STEENROD (Sidney), JESSICA RAMIREZ (Archbold) and MEGAN MOREO(Spencerville/Delphos Jefferson) were all recognized for their contributions to the soccer program during their time at Bluffton. The Beavers battled Hanover through a solid defensive first half, but eventually fell 4-0 to the Panthers.

The Beavers and Panthers fought back and forth through a defensive battle during a large chunk of the first half until Hanover broke the tie with a goal by ANNA CORNACCHIONE off an assist from RACHEL ALVIS at the 17:18 mark.

Hanover took the slim 1-0 lead into the half, but opened up the scoring in the second, tallying three goals. MACKENZIE DEAN made the score 2-0 in the 71st minute before ELAINE SIMPSON added two goals late in the match, both thanks to assists from Alvis, to cap off the shutout win for the Panthers.

Whitmer led the Bluffton attack on the day, tallying two shots, while junior AMANDA HUNSBERGER (Shipshewana, Ind./Westview) and Moreo each had one attempt. The visitors finished with a marked 32-4 edge in shots and 11-0 spread on corner kicks.

Following the loss, Bluffton fell to 4-7 overall with a 2-3 mark in the Heartland Conference, while Hanover improved to 11-1-2 (4-0-1 HCAC). The Beavers will take to the road for their next contest, traveling to Manchester University on Tuesday, Oct. 22. That match will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Spartan Field in North Manchester, Indiana.
