LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team wrapped up the 2013 campaign by falling to the Transylvania Pioneers on Saturday, Nov. 2, by a score of 4-0.

The first half was dominated by the Pioneers as they were able to secure three goals in the first 25 minutes. The first counter was scored by AMY GHIBAUDY for Transylvania in the 13th minute, assisted by ANDI MARTIN. The second goal of the contest was scored just a minute later when CARLEY WILLIAMS buried one into the back of the net. In the 23rd minute, ABBY FELTHAUS chipped in the Pioneers' third goal of the game with the help of MARIE DUMAINE to make the score 3-0.

The Beavers slowed down the home team for most of the second half. However, with just 1:27 remaining Transylvania added its final score of the contest from CORA KERBER, giving the Pioneers a 4-0 regular season finale victory.

The Pioneers outshot the visiting Beavers 15-2 in the contest, with 12 of those shots being on frame. Senior keeper MAGGIE ARMSTRONG (Vevay, Ind/Switzerland Cty.) picked up seven saves in the final match of her excellent career. Sophomore ASHLEY KNIPPEN (Wapakoneta) added the final save, as she replaced Armstrong for the last 12 minutes.

The Beavers wrapped up their season 5-10 overall and 3-6 in Heartland Conference play, good enough for a sixth-place tie in the final regular season standings. Transylvania finished its campaign at 13-3-2, 7-1-1 in HCAC play. They will be the third seed in the upcoming HCAC Conference Tournament next week when they make the trip to North Manchester, Ind., to battle the Manchester University Spartans.
