Beavers come up just short at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team limited Heidelberg to a single goal, but the Student Princes made it stand up as the home team improved to 6-3-1 overall thanks to the 1-0 shutout. Bluffton slipped to 1-7 on the season.

Freshman JULES FRAZIER (Nova/Mapleton) pitched a first half shutout as Bluffton went to the break knotted in a scoreless tie. The Student Princes got on the board just over four minutes into period two when Abigail Callahan notched her second tally of the season.

Senior BRITTANY HUFF (Union/Northmont) and junior SKYLAR LIMING(St Marys/Memorial) fired two shots apiece for the visitors. Heidelberg controlled the ball with 24 shots to just four for Bluffton. The home team forced all seven corner kicks while being whistled for six more fouls (9-3).

Bluffton opens Heartland Conference action on Saturday, Sept. 30, when the Beavers travel to Earlham College. The first match of a women's and men's doubleheader in Richmond, Ind. is slated for 1 p.m.
