Trine stops Bluffton 4-0 in season opener

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team waited nearly one year to get back on the pitch as they traveled to Trine University to play under the lights on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020. The Thunder lived up their name, striking for the quick goals late in the first half en route to a 4-0 shutout of the Beavers.

Bluffton kept Trine locked down for over 25 minutes before a three-goal spurt put the home team up 3-0 at the break. The Thunder tacked on a final tally with 12 minutes to play as Trine improved to 7-1 on the season.

Speedy sophomore Nina McGinn fired two shots to lead the Bluffton offense. Seniors Jules Frazier (Nova/Mapleton) and Sienna Sullivan (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) along with freshman Ashton Curnutte (Urbana) split the goalkeeper duties, racking up 12 saves on Tuesday night.

The Beavers will be on their home field for a matchup with the Adrian College Bulldogs on Saturday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. Bluffton students and faculty are invited to attend!
