Rose downs Bluffton 5-0 in 2021 opener

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team kicked off its 2020-21 Heartland Conference slate with a 5-0 loss to Rose-Hulman on Saturday, March 6. RHIT improved to 2-0 on the season (2-0 HCAC), while Bluffton fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Rose jumped out quickly with a score at the 4:32 mark and the Engineers added two more goals in the opening stanza for a 3-0 lead at the break. Bluffton was unable to find the back of the net and Rose tacked on two second-half tallies for a 5-0 shutout on Saturday afternoon.

Maddie Huffman (Maineville/Little Miami) paced the home team with three shots, including two on frame. Fellow senior Sienna Sullivan (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) fended off five Rose shot attempts.

The Bluffton women will be back at Salzman Stadium on Wednesday, March 10, for a matchup with Mount St. Joseph. Kick-off is slated for 3:30 p.m.
