Earlham takes down Bluffton 2-0 in season finale

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team wrapped up its 2020-21 season with a 2-0 loss at the hands of Earlham College on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. Bluffton finished with a 1-8-1 mark overall (1-6-1 HCAC). The Quakers improved to 2-6-1 and 1-6-1 in the conference.

With fans in the stands and the sun shining down gloriously on Salzman Stadium, the atmosphere was electric for the Heartland Conference tournament matchup that pitted the #7-seeded Beavers against the #8-seeded Quakers!

Earlham jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the opening stanza when Jenna Hoeh found Hannah Wallhauser for the early lead. That score held up until Mollie Lyon connected with Nicole Burkett less than 10 minutes into period two as the visitors took the #7-8 championship round contest 2-0 when the dust settled Wednesday afternoon.

The Beavers pelted Earlham to the tune of a 16-5 advantage in shots, including 6-3 on frame. Both teams were whistled for 10 fouls, while Bluffton forced four more corner kicks (6-2).

Sophomore Emma White (St. Marys/Memorial) ripped a team-high four shots for the Beavers. Senior Cardi T (Lima/Senior) fired away with three attempts, including two on target. Seniors Sienna Sullivan (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) and Jules Frazier (Nova/Mapleton) split up their final 90 minutes between the pipes with Sullivan notching a save for the Beavers.

Next up are the 2020-21 Heartland Conference post-season awards which are slated to be released next Tuesday, April 13. Check back next week for the Bluffton honorees.
