Franklin pitches 2-0 shutout of Beavers

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team struggled to put shots on the board in a 2-0 loss at Franklin on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021. The Beavers fell to 4-10 overall and 1-6 in the Heartland Conference, while Franklin improved to 4-10 and 3-4 in the HCAC.

A Lily Haines score in the opening minute was all Franklin would need for its third conference victory of the season. The home team put it on ice with a Jaiden Baker net-finder at the 74-minute mark.

Franklin finished with a 15-3 edge in shots and 7-0 spread in corner kicks. Bluffton was flagged for six more fouls (10-4).

Freshman Brielle Collier (Anna) tried to keep Bluffton in the match with seven saves on Wednesday night. Emma White (St. Marys/Memorial) Taylor Dye (Big Prairie/West Holmes) and Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) chipped in with the Bluffton shots at Franklin.

Bluffton will be back on the road Saturday when the Beavers travel to Rose-Hulman for a conference matchup with the Engineers at Terre Haute, Ind. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
