Oberlin takes down Bluffton 5-0 in season opener

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team fell 5-0 at Oberlin College on Thursday, Sept. 1. The Beavers stand 0-1 following their 2022 lidlifter against the Yeowomen.

The home team led just 1-0 at the half before a three-score flurry early in the second stanza put the result on ice. Oberlin tacked on a fifth tally with just over five minutes to play.

OC finished with a 31-8 edge in shots, including 18-4 on frame. The Yeowomen forced three more corner kicks (5-2).

Senior Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) paced the Beavers with three shots and Emma White (St. Marys/Memorial) chipped in with two attempts. Brielle Collier (Anna) racked up 13 saves in the season opener.

Bluffton will return to the pitch at Hiram on Sunday (3:30 p.m.) before the home opener next Wednesday, Sept. 7, when the Beavers welcome Olivet for a women's and men's doubleheader. The women are slated to kick off at 3 p.m.
