BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Bluffton University women's soccer team dropped a 4-2 decision to Muskingum University on Saturday, Sept. 17. The Beavers fell to 1-4-1 on the season while the Fighting Muskies improved to 2-2-2.

Muskingum connected with the back of the net first, just over a minute into play to give them an early 1-0 score. Two more Muskie goals would give them a commanding 3-0 lead at the midpoint of the first half. Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) put the home team on the board (3-1) when she knocked a shot to the netting, assisted by Brittney Ramirez (Archbold). Muskingum added one more tally for a 4-1 lead going into the half.

Bluffton was the only team to crack the board in the second half when Katelyn Burden (Sidney) tallied her first goal of the season, assisted by McGinn. However, it wouldn't be enough for the Beavers as Muskingum pulled away with the 4-2 victory.

Brielle Collier (Anna) racked up 11 saves in the loss with Muskingum's goalie tallying five. The Muskies outshot the Beavers 25-13 (15-7 on goal). The visitors forced three more corner kicks (5-2) and were also whistled for five fewer fouls (9-4).

The Beavers will take a week hiatus to regather before they hit the pitch again on Saturday, Sept. 24, for a home matchup against Bethany College. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. Go Beavers!
