Transy opens HCAC play with 3-0 shutout of Beavers

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Transylvania University on a cold Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022. The Pioneers moved to 4-1-3 overall and 1-0 in the HCAC, while Bluffton slipped to 1-6-1 and 0-1 in the league on Strike Out Cancer Day at Alumni Field.

Transy and Bluffton went back and forth for nearly 35 minutes before Audrey Rawls connected with Isabella White for the only score in the first half. The Beavers conceded two tallies in the first five minutes of period two and that put a wrap on the scoring as Transy headed back to Kentucky with a convincing 3-0 victory.

Bluffton was on the wrong side of a 21-8 shot discrepancy. Transy placed 10 of their attempts on frame, compared to six for the Beavers. The Pioneers forced nine of the 10 corner kicks Wednesday night, while Bluffton was whistled for four of the six fouls.

Senior Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) ripped four of Bluffton's eight shots. Sophomore Brielle Collier (Anna) came away with seven saves.

Bluffton will travel to Franklin College for a 1 p.m. Heartland Conference matchup with the Grizzlies on Saturday, Oct. 1.
