RHIT pitches 3-0 shutout at Bluffton

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Bluffton University women's soccer team honored their six senior players but fell to Rose-Hulman, 3-0, on Sunday, Oct. 16. The Beavers dropped to 3-9-1 (2-4 HCAC) while the Engineers improved to 8-2-3 (5-0-1 HCAC).

RHIT found the back on the net in in the 17th minute for an early 1-0 lead. They would hold that lead through the half and then added two more late goals in the second half to secure their 3-0 victory.

Senior Emma White (St. Marys/Memorial) powered the Beavers with three shots, two on goal. Jordan Jennings (Portsmouth/Wheelersburg) and Rilynn Kaufman (Goshen, IN/Bethany Christian) rounded out the offense with one shot apiece.

Bluffton keeper Brielle Collier (Anna) tallied nine saves in the loss. RHIT outshot Bluffton 23-5 (13-3 on goal). The visitors forced nine more corner kicks (12-3), but they were also whistled for one more foul (9-8).

The women are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 19, when they welcome HCAC-rival Defiance College to Alumni Field for their first match under the new stadium lights. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. Go Beavers!
