BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team scored three unanswered goals on the way to a 3-1 victory over Berea College on a hot Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023. Bluffton improved to 1-1, while the Mountaineers stayed winless at 0-2.
The visitors broke the ice at the 42:04 mark of the first helf, but Madison Ellerbrock (Leipsic/Miller City) found Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) less than two minutes later with the equalizer.
Ellerbrock was on the receiving end of a nice feed from Katelyn Burden (Sidney) 10 minutes into the second stanza with what turned out to be the game winner and then Burden made it 3-1 with just under 20 minutes to play!
Bluffton finished with a 31-9 edge in total shots, including a dominating 18-1 performance over the final 45 minutes. The Beavers forced nine more corner kicks (11-2) and they were called for offsides nine times, compared to one for the visitors. McGinn ripped 11 shots in the victory (five on frame).
Junior Brielle Collier (Anna) picked up four saves and evened up her season mark at 1-1.
The Beavers are on their home turf Tuesday night when they host the College of Wooster at 7 p.m.
