Wooster holds off Bluffton 2-0 on turf

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team gave Wooster everything it had for 90 minutes, but the Fighting Scots used two second half goals to stay unbeaten on the season. Wooster improved to 2-0-1, while Bluffton slipped to 1-2.

Although the visitors charted all eight shots taken in the opening stanza, Bluffton kept Wooster off the scoreboard for a 0-0 tie through the first 45 minutes.

It was still scoreless until the Scots took advantage of an own goal by the Beavers in minute 56. Wooster added an insurance tally from Julia Struck six minutes later en route to a 2-0 shutout on a hot Tuesday night at Alumni Field.

Wooster finished with a commanding 20-3 edge in shots and the visitors forced a ridiculous 17 corner kicks to none for the home team. The two teams were called for five fouls apiece and the Scots finished with six offsides infractions.

Junior Brielle Collier (Anna) picked up six saves and allowed just one Wooster shot to find is way across the line.

Bluffton is back at the Sears Complex for a women's soccer and football double feature on Saturday, Sept. 9. The Beavers welcome Hiram at noon before Bluffton football hosts Albion College at 6 p.m. under the lights!
