Muskingum scores late goals for 3-1 win

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team led for over 60 minutes, but Muskingum rallied late for a 3-1 win on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023. Bluffton fell to 2-3-1, while the home team picked up its first win, improving to 1-4-1 on the season.

Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) connected with Alyssa Kester (Centerville) less than eight minutes into the contest and that goal held up until minute 70 when Morgan Meisel netted the equalizer for Muskingum. A Meisel penalty kick two minutes later proved to be the game winner and Hannah Ritchie iced it at the 85:32 mark.

Muskingum finished with three more shots (15-12), while Bluffton was whistled for a whopping 14 more fouls (18-4). The home forced three more corner kicks (5-2) and it was called for offsides three times.

Brielle Collier (Anna) came away with five saves and McGinn led the visitors with three shots.

Bluffton heads to Springfield for a matchup with Wittenberg University on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
