Beavers drop 1-0 decision at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team conceded an early goal and Heidelberg made it stand up for a 1-0 win on a beautiful Saturday, Sept. 23. Bluffton fell to 2-5-1 on the season, while the Berg improved to 2-2-2.

Maddie Lause put the home team up less than four minutes in and the defense took over from there as Heidelberg did just enough to secure the 1-0 victory.

The Student Princes fired away with a 29-8 shot advantage, including 11-6 on frame. Heidelberg forced 10 more corner kicks (13-3) and it finished with two more fouls (7-5).

Senior Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) and Madison Ellerbrock (Leipsic/Miller City) led the offense with three shots apiece. Ellerbrock put all three of hers on target. Brielle Collier (Anna) had a monster effort with 10 saves on Saturday afternoon.

Bluffton heads to Lexington, Ky. for the Heartland Conference lidlifter at Transylvania University on Saturday, Sept. 27. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
