Rose-Hulman takes down Beavers 3-1

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team fell to 3-10-3 overall and 1-5-2 in the Heartland Conference following a 3-1 setback at Rose-Hulman on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023. Rose improved to 7-3-4 and 6-2 in conference action.

Kyra Hicks deposited her 8th goal in back of the net for a 1-0 lead at the 28:03 mark. It looked like that score would hold until the break but the home team just beat the buzzer, opening a 2-0 lead as time expired in the first half.

Another Rose goal midway through the final stanza pushed the spread to 3-0 before a penalty kick by Katelyn Burden (Sidney) made the final score 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

RHIT finished with a 17-7 advantage in shots thanks to a commanding 12-1 spread in the first half. The home team forced five of the seven kicks and it was whistled for four fouls, compared to just one on Bluffton.

Senior Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) ripped three shots, including two on frame. Junior Brielle Collier (Anna) turned away seven Rose attempts.

Bluffton will cap off its 2023 campaign on Wednesday, Oct. 25, when the Beavers welcome Manchester University to the Sears Complex.
