Swimming records fall at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's swimming team was back in action on Friday, Nov. 5, just two short weeks since they parted the waters for the first time at Asbury! The Beavers tangled with conference rival Franklin and Asbury.

Less than one week after earning All-Heartland Conference honors for the Bluffton University volleyball team, senior Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) etched her name at the top of the swimming record book for not one, not two, but three events! She collected two fourth place finishes and a fifth place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.91). Her fourth-place showings came in record-breaking times for the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.85) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:11.59).

MacKenzie Martin (Hartville/Lake) eclipsed her own two-week old school mark in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.13 seconds! The 200-yard freestyle relay also moved to the top of the record book, finishing in 2:18.64, shaving nearly seven seconds off the previous best at Asbury.

The women will head to Anderson University for a 1 p.m. tri-meet with Hanover and the Ravens on Saturday, Nov. 13.
