Bluffton College sophomore AMANDA HABEGGER (Berne, Ind./South Adams H.S.) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference athlete-of-the-week for women's track and field for her efforts in two meets last week.

At the Emory University Division III Spring Break Invitational in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Habegger placed fourth in both the 100-meter hurdles (16.65 seconds) and 400-meter hurdles (69.45 seconds). Habegger also ran on the 4x100 meter relay team, which placed third at 51.32, and the 4x400 meter relay team that placed fourth at 4:14.05. Both times are new Bluffton College records. Habegger's performance at Emory led the Beavers to a fifth place finish overall in the 19-team invitational.

Earlier in the week, Habegger helped Bluffton win its first home tri-meet of the season over HCAC-members Defiance and Manchester on Tuesday. She won the 300-meter hurdles (49.14 seconds) and was a member of the winning 4x100 meter relay quartet (52.24 seconds). She also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles (17.04 seconds) and pole vault (7ft.-6in.) and was third in the long jump (13ft.-10in.). Her performances at the tri-meet scored 24 points for the Beavers, which was the highest point total among all competing athletes.

At last year's HCAC Championships, Habegger won the 400-meter hurdles in a school-record time of 67.92 seconds, the fourth-best time in HCAC Championships history.
