With just a small contingent of athletes participating on Friday, it was the Bluffton field event athletes that took center stage, led by first-place finishes in both the men's and women's pole vault.

Senior Clint Dillon made his season debut a notable one as he skied to a clearance of 14 feet, en route to winning the men's pole vault.  Dillon finished with three strong attempts at a national qualifying height of 15' 2.25".  On the women's side, freshman Jamie Shores tied the indoor school record with a winning vault of 8' 0.5".  Aside from the pole vault, Bluffton also received a strong season debut from sophomore Jeremy King, who easily won the high jump competition with a jump of 6' 2".  In addition, senior Laurel Miller made her first meet of the season a good one, as she placed second in both the triple jump (30' 11.75") and the 55 meter hurdles (9.67). 

Bluffton also received a few strong performances from athletes competing on the track.  Junior Troy Baumer claimed a second-place finish in the 55 meter hurdles (8.77) to go along with his third-place finish in the 300 meter dash (37.04) and a fifth-place showing in his first-ever shot put competition.  The 4x200 meter relay of Brett Cordy, Shandon North, Mike Vice, and O'Shea Bowens also ran strong to finish second in that event.  For the women, sophomore Jennifer Creamer turned in a strong performance in the 1500 meters with an indoor personal-best time of 5:31.62, good for fourth place in that event.

The Beavers also have a portion of their squad competing this weekend in the Division III All-Ohio Elite Indoor Championships.  Following that meet, Bluffton will wrap up their indoor season next Friday at Ohio Northern.
