Bluffton opens 2005 indoor campaign at ONU

ADA, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's and women's track and field team participated in the Ohio Northern Friday night series meet on Jan. 21. The men's team finished at sixth place with the women's side placing seventh.

Leading the way for the Beavers was senior Jana Hammer (Hamler/Patrick Henry) who placed fourth in the 55 meter dash by setting a new Bluffton school record of 7.44. Freshman Mariel Nash (Loudonville/Loudonville) set a new Bluffton school record in the shot put by placing sixth with a distance of 36' 4.25".

Also for the women's team senior Michele Bailey (Spencerville/Spencerville South) placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 42' 11.0''. In the 5000 meter run junior Jennifer Creamer (Westerville/Westerville South) placed fourth with a time of 20:55.95. Junior Stephanie Welch (Berne, Ind./South Adams) placed fifth in the 500 meter run with a time of 1:32.77.

Leading the men's team was freshman Tyler Fairchild (Toledo/Whitmer) who placed third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:06.38. In the men's shot put junior Steve Myers (Delphos/Jefferson) placed fourth with a distance of 45' 6.50''. In the 1500 meter run junior Dan Rosebrock (Napoleon/Napoleon) placed fifth with a time of 4:16.35.

The Beavers will be back in action at the University of Findlay Invitational on Jan. 28-29.
