Bluffton participates in Anderson Invitational

ANDERSON, Ind.- The Bluffton University track and field team competed in the Anderson University Invitational on Feb. 5. The Beavers had a successful meet with the women placing third and the men tying for third place.

Leading Bluffton was senior STEVE MYERS (Delphos/Jefferson) who set a new school record in the shot put with a throw of 47' 9.25''. In the 800 meter run junior DAN ROSEBROCK(Napoleon/Napoleon) placed second with a time of 2:01.27 and sophomore JOHNNY ICHRIST(Toledo/Whitmer) ran a lifetime best with a time of 2:04.31 to place fourth. The men's distance medley relay team made up of SHANDON NORTH (Galion/Galion), TYLER FAIRCHILD(Toledo/Whitmer), JORDAN BRUNER (Wauseon/Pettisville) and DAN ROSEBROCK placed first with a time of 10:57.27. Freshman KEVIN DAVIS(Albion, Mich./Albion ) finished third in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.68 and placed first in the long jump with a distance of 6.75m.

For the women, senior MICHELLE BAILEY(Spencerville/Spencerville South) placed first in the weight throw with a distance of 12'78''. Senior JANA HAMMER(Hamler/Patrick Henry) finished third in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.77 and also finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28:08. Junior STEPHANIE WELCH(Berne, Ind./South Adams) finished second in the high jump with a jump of 5'0''and placed fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:41.01. Freshman MARIEL NASH(Loudonville/Loudonville) earned second place in the shot put with a distance of 11'11''.

The Beavers will be back in action at Ohio Northern on Feb. 11 (Friday night series meet) and in the All-Ohio championships at Ohio Northern on Feb. 12.
