Bluffton successful at All-Ohio Championship

ADA, Ohio - The Bluffton University men and women's track team competed in the All-Ohio meet at Ohio Northern University on Feb. 12. The Beavers were well represented and had a successful meet as several Bluffton track and field records were broken. 

There were many highlights for the men's team including freshman KEVIN DAVIS (Albion, Mich./Albion) who broke a school record in the long jump with a jump of 22'7.25'' and placed first in the meet. Junior DAN ROSEBROCK (Napoleon/Napoleon) broke a record in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.83 and placed fifth. Rosebrock and Davis broke records that were 19 years old as they were set in 1986 by Doug Sanders. Sanders long jump record was 22'4'' and his 800-meter run record was 2:00.1.

The women's team was also very successful as the 4x200 meter relay team made up of senior JANA HAMMER (Hamler/Patrick Henry), sophomore CINDY ALLAN (Fayette/Archbold), junior RITA MUETHER (Celina/Celina), and senior AMANDA HABEGGER (Berne, Ind./South Adams) set a new record with a time of 1:49.96 and finished fourth. JANA HAMMER finished sixth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.73. Senior MICHELLE BAILEY finished sixth in the weight throw with a throw of 40'6.00''.

The Beavers will be back in action at the Ohio Northern University Friday night series meet No. 3 on Feb. 18.
