Bluffton men and women place third at ONU

ADA, Ohio - The Bluffton University track and field team competed in the Ohio Northern Friday Night Series Meet on Feb. 18. The Beavers had a successful meet, as there were three new school records set. Both the men and women's teams placed third.

Leading the way for the men's team was junior DAN ROSEBROCK (Napoleon/Napoleon) who set a new record in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:12.69 and placed first in the event. The 4x400 meter relay team made up of freshman KEVIN DAVIS (Albion, Mich/Albion), DAN ROSEBROCK, sophomore JOHNNY ICHRIST (Toledo/Whitmer), and sophomore SHANDON NORTH (Galion/Galion) set a new record with a time of 3:30.12 and earned a second place finish. In the 55-meter dash KEVIN DAVIS placed third and tied the school record with a time of 6.64. Junior STEVE MYERS (Delphos/Jefferson) placed second in the weight throw with a distance of 39'5.75''.

For the women's team senior AMANDA HABEGGER (Berne, Ind./South Adams) set a record in the 500 meter run with a time of 1:25.65. In the 55-meter dash junior RITA MUETHER(Celina/Celina) finished first with a time of 7.76 and senior JANA HAMMER (Hamler/Patrick Henry) placed second with a time of 7.77. Sophomore CINDY ALLAN (Fayette/Archbold) placed first in the triple jump with a jump of 31'11.50''. In the women's weight throw senior MICHELE BAILEY (Spencerville/Spencerville South) finished second with a distance of 39'9.75''. JuniorSTEPHANIE WELCH ((Berne, Ind./South Adams) placed third in the high jump with a jump of 5'1.75''.

The Beavers will be back in action in their next meet on Feb. 25 at Ohio Northern University.
